Following yesterday’s post on potential I got many messages about the fact that potential cannot be measured.
It can’t be measured.
More importantly, maybe it shouldn’t be.
Potential is not something to be expressed in units or output. Potential is not a synonym for “future performance”.
It’s a posture we adopt towards ourselves, others, and that which is possible.
Performance is a component of potential and can be measured.
Development of skills is a component of potential and can be measured.
But there are some things in life that extend beyond the confines of measurement.
Approaching each moment, each person, each challenge with the excitement of what could be is one such thing.
